Vacuum or blot up the excess.
Cleaning soil out of carpet.
Use a spool to gently scrape and scoop up the excess starting on the edge and working towards the center.
Apply detergent water to the stained area without soaking the carpet and let it stand for 5 minutes.
If you have solid materials on top of the carpet use a large spoon to gently scrape the material into a pile that you can then remove with a cloth.
Scooping food or soil out of the carpet tends to grind the materials further down into the fibers.
Clean out as much as possible with the carpet still dry.
When the stains have come out of the fibers use a new clean cloth with only water to rinse out the soap solution.
It can take several attempts to remove deep soils and stains.
If your carpet is under warranty call the company before you do anything else.
Allow soil to complete dry.
Dirt can settle deep down in the fibers of the carpet so once over vacuuming and cleaning may not be enough to remove it.
If you don t think you can remove the stain call a carpet cleaning company.
Don t try to dig up the stain.
Place a third cloth or paper towels on the wet area to make sure the carpet dries quickly.
Blot first go for water second.
Develop a routine of frequent vacuuming and clean spills soon after they occur to prevent future soil and staining.
If some soil still remains try washing with soap solution one more time.
Stain removal may be covered or the company may be able to suggest tips for your specific type of carpet.
